MASTER ARTISAN OF WOOD INLAY (SHILP GURU & NATIONAL AWARD WINNER)

Shri Rupan Matharu hails from a family of reputed artisan of Hoshiarpur and he is the fifth generation in the family maintaining inlay craft and is luminary among today’s inlay work artisans. According to Rupan ji the traditional inlay work in Hoshiarpur is being carried out on Sheesham wood having an age of at least 50 to 60 years old with a circular shaped diameter of 7ft to 10ft.
Craftsman Rupan received the prestigious Shilpguru award by Union Ministry of Textiles for his master creation. The fine craftsmanship seen in the articles of Rupan Matharu is made by the tools prepared by him. The wooden chest crafted by Rupan Mathru was selected by the PM’s Office and then presented by Narendra Modi to US President Donald Trump during his US visit.
Rupan Matharu along with his son at present is a leading manufacturer and exporter of wooden inlay Artifacts/handicrafts.
